Scottish Borders Councillor for Kelso and DistrictSimon Mountford, who lives just outside Town Yetholm, was elected as a councillor for Kelso & District in May 2012. A former business editor, he set up his own corporate communications and public relations consultancy in 1994.
John was first elected as a Councillor for Mid Berwickshire in 2012 and again in 2017 and 2022, alongside his colleague Mark Rowley.
John gives us some insight into his activity within the Mid Berwickshire and wider Borders community, and his role within the Scottish Borders Council:
Former MP for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale & Tweeddale and PPC for this seat in the General Election to be held on 12th December 2019 A former BT executive and MSP, David Mundell scored the Conservatives’ only success on Scotland in May 2005 when he won the newly created seat of Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale with a notional eight per cent swing from Labour. David remained the only Conservative MP to be elected from Scotland in 2010 increasing his majority by over 2000 votes.
John Robert Lamont is the MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh & Selkirk, following his election into this seat in 2017. He successfully held this seat in 2019 with a majority of over 5000 votes. John was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Scotland in October 2022.
