Scottish Borders MP, John Lamont, said: "The Scottish Conservatives have forced Humza Yousaf to resign following his disastrous spell as First Minister.

"The SNP leader has quit in disgrace after Douglas Ross lodged a Vote of No Confidence in him.

"The next First Minister must focus more on people's real priorities, not on the SNP's obsession with independence.

"Humza Yousaf is gone but the nationalists remain in power. At the upcoming General Election, it's vital that we unite to beat the SNP here in the Borders so we can get the focus onto the issues that really matter to local people."
