Scott was first elected as councillor in Jedburgh & District in 2017, topping the ballot box alongside Sandy Scott. Both were re-elected in 2022. Scott lives outside Ancrum and went to school in Earlston. He works both as a councillor and on the family farm. Scott developed an interest in politics by the age of 13 and became a councillor at the age of 20. Today he remains the youngest of the 34 elected members of the Scottish Borders Council. Scott is Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Community and Business. He is also Chair of the Standards Committee, and is on the Community Planning Strategic Board. Additionally Scott is in the Cheviot Area Partnership and the Jedburgh Common Good Sub-Committee amongst several other committees within the Council.
