Rachael Hamilton MSP supports Harrison & Hetherington's mart in St Boswells

Rachael Hamilton MSP is encouraging local residents, farmers and visitors to support Harrison & Hetherington's mart in St Boswells by nominating its auction café, run by Doreen Hedley, for the Mart's The Heart Awards 2026.

The awards, which are now in their tenth year, celebrate the important role auction marts play at the heart of rural communities and recognise the people and businesses that help support the livestock industry.

One of the categories is Auction Café of the Year, which recognises cafés that bring people together, serve high-quality food using British produce and provide excellent value for farmers, traders and visitors.

Borders MSP Rachael Hamilton said: "Auction marts are at the heart of our farming communities and they play a crucial role in supporting livestock producers across the Borders and beyond.

"Harrison & Hetherington's mart in St Boswells is a fantastic local institution that provides an important service for farmers throughout the region.

"The mart café is a vital part of that experience, as a welcoming hub for farmers, traders and visitors alike.

"A nomination for this award would help to recognise the hard work of the people behind the scenes who help keep our local marts running and support our rural communities every day.

"I would encourage everyone who has enjoyed visiting the café at St Boswells mart to take a few minutes to submit a nomination."
