Scottish Borders MP, John Lamont, said: "I am looking forward to seeing these proposals come forward as there is potential for a considerable boost to jobs, local businesses and our economy.
"Investment in Hawick and surrounding communities is welcome, particularly if hundreds of jobs are created as a result."
Scottish Borders MSP, Rachael Hamilton, said: "The prospect of more jobs coming to the local area is encouraging, although I look forward to seeing the detail of these proposals and the impact they may have on road traffic and local infrastructure.
"Residents in Hawick and across the local area should be given a real say in this project. It must put the local community first."
